Dank Art

LordBBH got a very good evening in Mame roulette last night as I seemed to have made a lot of Dank Art. I almost did one piece per game. I guess that makes up for last week? Hopefully some of these ideas will find their way into something polished now that I have my iPad & can really start to make these little ideas into something bigger. I’m really digging the Dangerous Seed Shmup & I would like to see that one larger.

I am also a sucker for drawing Street Fighter II characte so I gotta sketch out a few of my favorite faces :3

Macaw45 played out a few PC 98 adventure games as well as an obscure PS1 adventure JRPG game Bealphareth over the weekend where due to the mistake of choosing the worst weapon ever (the axe) Macaw had to play the first 5 levels over again but with a character who could use a spear (because axe

I finally made an effort to draw out the horrible looking Man Babies from that Mug Crushers game that Chuboh has been keen on playing on his frequent Jank Arcade streams. I also saw one night Chuboh was firing up a C64 emulator but I was so exhausted last week that I missed it. I’m always a huge fan of weird & obscure stuff and Chuboh certainly sets the bar when it comes to Jank games.

One of the SGDQ runs I really wanted to watch this year was the Tetris Block which featured KevinDDR and a few other amazing players who are super hardcore into Tetris. It’s always an incredible show when you get to see some of the top ranking players in the US play this type of game. Often when I show people I work with the videos from past events they just stop and stare unable to even to unwind the thought process these players go thru each time they jump into a session.

MURPHAGATOR fired up one of the best arcade games ever (as voted by myself & my pal Greg) Alien vs Predator. Growing up as a kid almost everything Alien’s related scared the snot out of me. I missed out on some of the best action horror movies of my parents generation because I was too busy being a little weak baby. However, I am working on a bunch of crazy dank art which features this game as it’s one of the best arcade games you could ever pick up. Try it out!

I’ve been working on a few commissions and been toying around with a few new ideas that I wanted to feature in upcoming issues of my Zine. This piece that I worked on last Sunday on my twitch stream of an older idea I fleshed out two years ago as a gift for my friends Dan & Lindsay. I kinda wanted to go back to that idea and see if I could do something neat with the background as it’s been a while I’ve put a lot of high detail in a good landscape.

The amusing thing about this piece is that people actually know where this game is from since I normally draw/paint obscure stuff. However I could just say the game in question is Glovius and keep it obscure.

I’ve also been playing around with my iPad Pro and using it as a tablet to draw some digital Dank Art. With the iPad there’s so many chances to go back & improve something that isn’t looking right may that be an arm or an eye. I won’t be giving up on watercolours anytime soon, but I am trying out more tablet creations so make sure you catch those as I drop them on my twitter feed.

It’s only the fourth month into this amazing project and I can’t tell you enough how happy I am for doing it. It’s turning into more of a magazine with more people contributing to it and I’m starting to have issues juggling the content.

Goati, who is this months featured streamer, gave away 4 issues on his Sunday stream where he invited viewers to draw him or a Megadrive Game for one. I should be mailing those out this week along with a few other Dank orders.

If you want to get your hands on a copy of my Zine you can always follow me on twitter and test your luck on one of my raffles/give aways. However, the best way to get a copy of my Zine is to subscribe and back the project on my Patreon. I do sell the books in the Dank Shop, but you end up saving way more on shipping and get access to all the freebies and added gifts when you do subscribe on my Patreon. It’s also the best place where I am set up to take commissions so if you wan to get a special one of a kind piece of artwork done this is the best and cheapest way to get my Dank Art.

Keep me making Dank Art!
